[On the GROSS initiative]:
It’s also a matter of looking
after our healthcare staff.
This field is stressful for
healthcare workers as it is
and can take a heavy toll
on workers’ physical and
mental health over time.
The additional toll placed on
workers by processes such
as this, and increasingly
by excessive and evercontinuing expansions of
CPD requirements should
not be underestimated.
These requirements need
to be evaluated scientifically
to assess their true need,
value and benefit.
ROB HOSKING
[On the GROSS initiative]:
Absolutely. Great stuff, not
stupid stuff. Bureaucracies
are crossing “t”s, dotting
“i”s and covering their “r”s
by making us do stupid stuff.
I stopped working at
my local public hospital
partly because of these
mandatory requirements.
One particularly stupid one
was the requirement for a
working with children check,
despite not being permitted
to admit children! And it is
not required in my job as a
GP. Yes Minister or Utopia
writers couldn’t make this
stuff up!

GEORGINA HAYDEN
[On the GROSS initiative]:
What a great aim for 2025
- in this tightening fiscal
environment and in context
of the new Health reforms
with the development of
Local Health Networks what
a great initiative to start
with. Even baby steps with
the health services in each
network being unified and
simplified the mandatory
training - that would be
progress. (And perhaps
the private hospitals too).
SIMON CRAIG
[On the GROSS initiative]:
Thanks for advocating
for common sense. These
bureaucratic demands not
only cost time and money
- these also contribute
to clinician burnout and
disengagement.
